Organization Mission

The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean is organizing a Regional Consultation on Strengthening Integrated Disease Surveillance (IDS) Using DHIS2 Across Countries Supported by the Global Fund Middle East Response (MER) Grant. The consultation aims to review progress in disease surveillance systems, identify challenges and lessons learned, strengthen surveillance capacities, and support countries in developing action plans to integrate TB, HIV, malaria, and other programme surveillance systems within national integrated disease surveillance frameworks. To maximize the impact of the consultation, WHO seeks the support of an Online Volunteer to assist with documentation, knowledge management and coordination of post-workshop follow-up activities.

Context

The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean is organizing a Regional Consultation on Strengthening Integrated Disease Surveillance (IDS) Using DHIS2 Across Countries Supported by the Global Fund Middle East Response (MER) Grant. The consultation aims to review progress in disease surveillance systems, identify challenges and lessons learned, strengthen surveillance capacities, and support countries in developing action plans to integrate TB, HIV, malaria, and other programme surveillance systems within national integrated disease surveillance frameworks. To maximize the impact of the consultation, WHO seeks the support of an Online Volunteer to assist with documentation, knowledge management, coordination of post-workshop follow-up activities, and maintenance of communication among participating countries and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the responsible WHO technical officer, the Online Volunteer will:
1. One report analysis for the TB/HIV Malaria consultation survey
2. One workshop report that includes (Workshop proceedings, Meeting summary reports and key action points)
3. Translate English-to-Arabic and Arabic-to-English of 4 presentations/workshop materials/follow up documents.
4. Assist in preparing one communication material/success story on strengthening integrated disease surveillance.

Required Skills and Experience

• Background in Medical, Health Science, or related field
• Fluency in both English and Arabic, with demonstrated experience in translation and editing of technical documents.
• Ability to accurately translate public health, surveillance, epidemiology, health information systems, and programmatic terminology.
• Experience supporting bilingual meetings, workshops, or international development initiatives is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online collaboration tools.
