Context
SAEF works to advance education, youth empowerment, and community development by supporting programmes that improve access, equity, and long‑term opportunities for young people. To strengthen its ability to secure sustainable funding, SAEF is preparing grant applications for upcoming donor opportunities. The organization requires support in drafting a strong, well‑structured proposal that clearly communicates programme goals, expected impact, and alignment with donor priorities. Strengthening the quality of grant proposals is essential to expanding SAEF’s reach and ensuring continued support for its initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The Online Volunteers will support the organization by drafting complete grant proposals for selected funding opportunities, using information and materials provided by SAEF. Each volunteer will be assigned one funding opportunity for which they will prepare a full draft proposal.
Selected volunteers will draft a 3–5 page grant proposal using programme information, organizational materials, and donor guidelines provided by SAEF, and submit it for review. Online Volunteers must also be available for bi‑weekly check‑ins with the organization’s team for updates.
Online Volunteers will not be asked or requested to solicit or contact donations/funds from third parties.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
– 2 years grant and proposal writing experience or proposal development
-Ability to work without supervision, virtually and effectively under pressure.
-Strong writing and research skills
-Ability to synthesize information into clear, persuasive narratives
-Familiarity with development or nonprofit funding (an asset)
-Ability to meet deadlines
-Commitment to volunteerism and development values
– Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel)
